FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHER

Denice, a native Californian, was born in Hollywood and raised in sunny SoCal. Her childhood was filled with sunshine, juicy oranges, and endless summers on the beach. Her dad, a shutterbug with a home darkroom, introduced her to the magical world of photography. Helping in the darkroom, she discovered the thrill of slipping exposed photo paper into the developer and slowly watching a photograph come to life.  Denice’s love of photography began there, and oh, let’s not forget her love for the sweet aroma of darkroom chemicals – a quirky bonus.

As a former chemist, Denice played with proteins, genes and other fancy molecules by day, but tapped into a different kind of chemistry – the alchemy of creativity and visual storytelling with a camera – by night.  Embracing both her analytical and creative sides, Denice’s approach to photography is a unique blend of scientific precision and creative intuition.  She was an unconventional scientist who traded test tubes for camera lenses.

Inspired by Film Noir and the timeless strokes of old masters’ paintings, Denice’s photography is an exploration of the interplay of light and shadow. Black and white photography is her true love, though she dabbles in color too.  Her portfolio resonates with dramatic compositions of dazzling light and deep shadows that reveal the beauty and depth of everyday life.
