painter, watercolors

Art is truly inspiring to me, especially considering that I’ve always loved art but because I’m dyslexic I never tried it because I have difficulties reading and seeing things in the way most people do.

When I retired a dear friend invited me to take an art class with her.  She was already a very accomplished artist.  I reminded her that I couldn’t draw.  She coached me into taking a class where you pour paint and after drying you then try to make something out of it.  Mostly abstract painting.  Pretty soon I was taking 3 art classes a week.  And must admit eventually I was able to paint trees without having to stamp them from a slice of broccoli.

Art brings me joy and is fulfilling part of my retirement life.  It has a unique way of allowing me to express myself and connect with others.  My journey exemplifies the beauty of trying new things and finding unexpected passions.  I find it keeps me creating and spreading joy through my art.  Making new friends with other artist, chatting with others about art and staying connected with old friends through the cards I make.
